Two of the most popular eCommerce platforms for small businesses are WooCommerce and Shopify. Both let you build a professional, full-featured online store quickly and easily. But how much does an eCommerce website cost if you use WooCommerce? How much does an eCommerce website cost if you use Shopify? Does either one have the potential to save your business a lot of money vs the other? I’ve put together a monster infographic to help you decide.
Infographic: How Much Does an eCommerce Website Cost? Woocommerce vs. Shopify
A Few Notes on the Infographic
In theory, you could run an eCommerce website using WooCommerce and pay for nothing other than your web hosting. The same goes for Shopify. You could use a free theme and stick with free extensions, apps, and payment gateways.
In fact, all of the WooCommerce extensions I used in my example have free versions that would probably be good enough for most online stores. But I want this comparison to be useful for people who plan on running their businesses on one of these two platforms. For those people, paying a little extra to get all the features, and most importantly product support, is worth it.
Sames goes for themes. There are plenty of free themes that work well and look good. This infographic makes the assumption that shop owners will want to step up to premium themes, again with support, additional features, and possibly a visual page builder for WooCommerce.
Finally, here are links to all of the products, plugins, extensions, apps, and services mentioned in the infographic. None of these are affiliate links, they are simply here for your reference:
